AI for HR and payroll teams, without exposing employee data
Employment contracts, annual reviews, disciplinary files, payroll exports: HR work is full of personal data, some of it highly sensitive. Hidden Tokens lets HR teams use AI on it without sending who the employees are.
- Employee names, staff and badge numbers, contract numbers, social security numbers, IBANs and dates of birth are coded on your computer before the AI reads anything.
- Salaries are protected by default: a payroll column reveals a person's finances.
- Job titles, labour-law terms, payslip items and public bodies stay readable, so the AI can still draft a contract or analyse a pay structure.
- Results come back in Word or Excel with the real names and figures, on your computer.
What makes HR files different
HR data is personal by definition and frequently sensitive: health and absence, disciplinary matters, family situations, salaries. Employees rarely know that their review was pasted into a chatbot, and they have every reason to object. Hidden Tokens keeps the productivity and removes the identities.
What the HR and payroll pack codes, and what it keeps readable
| Coded | Kept readable |
|---|---|
| Employee names, managers, family members | Job titles and organisation units |
| Staff, badge and employment-contract numbers | Labour-law terms and procedures |
| Social security numbers, IBANs, dates of birth | Payslip items and public bodies |
| Salaries and individual pay (protected by default) | Dates, periods and headcounts |
Typical uses
- Drafting: an employment contract or a warning letter from a template and the employee's file.
- Reviews: summarising a year of feedback for
NOM-012into a balanced annual review. - Payroll analysis: variances month over month, pay-gap analysis by grade, with salary levels hidden behind a secret factor.
- Policies: comparing your handbook with a new regulation, with no personal data involved.
Built for a team, not just a laptop
With the Firm and Organisation plans, a single registry gives each employee the same code on every HR workstation, an administrator signs the rules every machine follows, and the coverage report tells you which machines have stopped using Hidden Tokens, with counts only, never data. Hidden Tokens supports your GDPR compliance; it does not certify it.
Frequently asked questions
Is employee data more sensitive than client data under the GDPR?
Often, yes. HR files can contain special categories of data (health, trade-union membership) and data about vulnerable situations. The safest default is that none of it identifies anyone when it reaches the AI.
Can the AI still analyse pay equity or payroll trends?
Yes. Use the secret-factor mode: one hidden multiplier per sheet keeps totals, ratios and gaps exactly right while hiding the real salary levels. The real figures come back on your computer.
What about HR managers typing questions into ChatGPT?
The Hidden Tokens browser extension codes what is typed into ChatGPT, claude.ai, Gemini or Copilot before it is sent, with the same key as your files.
