Hidden Tokens / Academy / Lesson 7
Your industry: packs and rules
Hidden Tokens codes names, contact details, bank and identity numbers in every document; industry packs add the identifiers of a trade (docket, patient, policy, employee numbers) and keep its vocabulary readable. For anything specific to you, folder rules code your own reference formats or code names, and leave readable what must stay readable, such as your firm's name.
Before you start
You need the Hidden Tokens app with the Academy practice folder from
lesson 2. Rules belong to a folder: a rule for one client's folder does not
touch the others.
Step by step
-
See the packs of your folder
In the Hidden Tokens menu, open your folder's submenu, then Industry packs. Each pack is listed with its number of patterns and of terms kept in clear; a tick means it is active for this folder. The packs cover legal, accounting, HR and payroll, healthcare, banking and insurance, and telecom. Their names are in French for now, and they were built first for French and Moroccan identifiers.
-
Open the folder's rules
In the same submenu, choose Folder rules…. The dashboard opens on the rules of this folder. There are three kinds: always code some terms, code a pattern, leave some terms in clear.
-
Add a pattern for your own reference format
The sample letter cites matter QF-2026-117. Add a rule of type Pattern — a regular expression, label Matter numbers, prefix
MATTER, patternQF-\d{4}-\d{3}, and the fictitious exampleQF-2026-117; then Add and save. Rules apply from the next file. -
Leave your firm's name in clear
Add a second rule of type Leave in clear — terms, label Our firm, term
Harrowgate Pell LLP. The AI may know who wrote the letter; it still won't know who the client is. -
See the result on a new file
Copy
01-letter-to-client.docxinto the folder again under another name, for example01-letter-copy.docx. In its coded copy, the matter number is now MATTER-001 and the firm's name is readable, while the client and the phone number are still codes.
What can go wrong
- The rule is refused. A pattern must match its fictitious example and the prefix must be 2 to 10 capital letters. Never type a real value as the example.
- Nothing changed in the coded copy. Rules apply to the next file: drop a new copy of the document, as in step 5.
- The firm's name is still coded. Check the exact spelling in the rule. And if the same text also matches a rule that codes, coding wins.
- A pack name is in French. The packs' names are not translated yet; their effect is the same in English documents.

Frequently asked questions
Which industry packs exist?
Legal (France, and Morocco), notaries (Morocco), accounting, HR and payroll, healthcare, banking and insurance, and telecom. They were built first for French and Moroccan identifiers; identifiers of other countries can be added as Pattern rules.
Can an organisation impose rules on every computer?
Yes: with the Organisation plan, an administrator signs a policy that every computer checks on each request, and the organisation's rules prevail over a folder's rules. That is beyond this Academy.
Does a rule make the AI see less of my document?
A rule that codes makes the AI see a code instead of a value; a rule that leaves in clear makes it see more. "Code" always wins over "leave in clear" when both match.
