The Hidden Tokens browser extension
Chrome · Edge · Brave · Arc — with the Hidden Tokens app on the same computer
Every message you send to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot is encoded on your computer before it leaves: names, identifiers and amounts become NAME-001, COMPANY-003… Replies are translated back on your screen. Same key as your files: NAME-001 is the same person everywhere.
Install in three steps
| Step | Where |
|---|---|
| 1. Add the extension | Chrome Web Store, button above (Edge: allow “extensions from other stores”) |
| 2. “Pair browser…” → “Copy code” | Hidden Tokens app, H menu in the menu bar |
| 3. Paste the code → “Pair” | Extension popup (H icon in Chrome) |
If the app does not respond
Once paired, the extension holds the message: nothing leaves in clear. Until it has been paired once, it lets messages through and says so with a red banner.
For IT: policy deployment
Force-install the extension on every computer with the Chrome policy ExtensionInstallForcelist (Google Admin, GPO, MDM), and enforce “hold” through the extension policy:
{ "sansSentinelle": { "Value": "retenir" } }
Messages are then held even before pairing, and users cannot change the setting.
What the extension does not do
It sends nothing to Hidden Tokens or anyone else: it only talks to the app on your computer (127.0.0.1). It does not encode attachments: drop files into a watched folder instead. Privacy policy.
